INTRODUCTION : Engineering field (क्षेत्र) में threaded parts जिस पर चूड़िया कटी हो और दो या दो से अधिक parts को जोड़ने के लिए प्रयोग किए जाते है. इस तरह से की जुड़े हुए parts को किसी भी समय पर अलग कर सकते है. screw thread cylindrical pics पर internal और external surface पर चूड़ी काटकर बनाए जाते है. Screw thread temporary fastener होते है. screw thread एक fastener होता है जो nut,bolt,stud,screw पर use किए जाते है और दुसरे parts पर भी thread काटी जाती है. यदि एक cylindrical rod(छड़) को समान गति पर घुमाते हुए rod के axis के समान्तर pointed rod को attach करते हुए कट करते है तो Rod पर tool के द्वारा बनाया हुआ कट एक समान होगा और helical shape में होगा. Helical shape को ही screw thread कहते है. Thread आमतोर पर खराद मशीन (lathe machine) पर काटे जाते है. छोटे hole में internal thread काटने के लिए tep का use किया जाता है. इस प्रकार के hole को tapped hole कहते है. Small size के screw (पेच) पर thread काटने के लिए die का प्रयोग किया जाता है.

किसी Cylindrical की outer व् internal surface पर helical shape में आगे बढ़ते हुए घुमावदार speed से बने helical groves को screw thread कहते है. Job की outer surface पर कटी thread को external surface and internal surface पर कटी thread को job कहते है.Thread से हमे क्या-क्या लाभ है
1.Machine के parts को जोड़ने के लिए जैसे nut and bolt
2.थोड़ी सी शाक्ति (power) लगाकर भारी वस्तु को उठाने के लिए जैसे screw jack
3.एक स्थान से दुसरे स्थान तक power पहुचाने के लिए Lead screw
4.बारीक से बारीक माप लेने के लिए micrometer
Terms Of Screw Thread
Screw thread के बारे में जानने से पहले screw thread की terms को जानना बहुत जरूरी है | Screw thread की निमंलिखित terms है जो इस प्रकार हैNominal Diameter
Cylindrical rod (छड़) या pice का पहले वाला diameter जिस पर thread काटी जाती है screw इस diameter से पहचाना जाता है इसे nominal diameter कहते है.Major Diameter
इसे crest diameter and out side diameter के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. screw thread के सबसे बड़े वाले diameter को major diameter कहते है.Minor Diameter
इसे root diameter और inside diameter के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. screw thread के सबसे छोटे वाले diameter को minor diameter कहते है.Crest : Thread का सबसे उपरी भाग जहा पर दो side आकर मिलती है उसे crest कहते है.
Root : Thread की सबसे नीचे वाली surface जहा पर दो साइड आकर मिलती है उसे root कहते है.
Fluke Or Side : Crest or root की slack surface को fluke or side कहते है.
Angle Of Thread : Thread की side या fluke के बीच के angle को angle of thread कहते है
Axis Of Screw : Cylindrical road के बीच में लम्बाई के बल जो रेखा (line) गुजरती है उसे axis of screw कहते है.
Depth
Crest और root के बीच के distance या बीच की दुरी को depth कहते है. Depth screw के axis के perpendicular मापी जाती है और major और minor diameter के आधे के बराबर होती है.Pitch ( पिच किसे कहते है )
Crest to crest and root to root तक के बीच की दुरी को pitch कहते है. pitch axis line के समान्तर मापी जाती है.Lead
एक complete चक्कर nut और bolt के द्वारा तय की गई दुरी को lead कहते है. lead axis line के समान्तर मापी जाती है. single start thread में lead or pitch बराबर होती है. double start thread में lead pitch से दुगनी होती है.In single start thread lead =number of start x pitch
In double start thread lead =2 x pitch
In triple start thread lead =3 x pitch
Pitch Diameter या Effective
Diameter
यह major or minor diameter के बीच में एक काल्पनिक diameter होता है. इस तरह के diameter में width of space और width of thread बराबर होती है. इसे diameter कहते है.Helix Angle
Pitch diameter के ऊपर axis के perpendicular thread के helix द्वारा बनाए गए angle को helix angle कहते है.Thickness Of Thread
Pitch diameter के ऊपर thread के दो side के बीच की दुरी को thickness of thread कहते है और यह axis line के समान्तर मापी जाती है.Pitch Line
Axis line के समान्तर major or minor diameter के बीच जो line draw की जाती है उसे pitch line कहते है.Pitch Point
Pitch line जहां पर side को attach करती है उसे pitch point कहते है. Slope Thread का slope pitch का आधा होता है.Slope : Thread का slope pitch का आधा होता है.
