INTRODUCTION : Engineering field में plane and space curve का बहुत महत्व है. curve gear के tooth का उपरी भाग या cam की बनावट या paper greeting machine आदि के parts बनाने में उपयोग किया जाता है. Curve क्या होती है ? What is Curve in Hind ? 

Curve एक simple line होती है जो एक fix point से चलती है और अपनी दिशा बदलती हुई एक समान चलती है उसे curve कहते है. curve दो भागो में बांटा गया है.

1. Single Curve Line Or Plane Curve
2. Double Curve Line Or Space Curve

1. Single Curve Line Or Plane Curve

Single curve line या plane curve एक रेखा होती है. जो एक point से चलती है और अपनी direction change करती हुई उसी plane पर स्थिरता से चलती है. plane curve Cycloid or spherical curve आदि के लिए use की जाती है. plane curve हमेशा एक view में draw की जाती है.

2. Double Curve Line Or Space Curve

Double curve or space curve line एक point से चलती है और अपनी direction change करती हुई उसी space में स्थिरता से चलती है space curve एक view में complete नहीं की जाती.  इसके लिए कम-से-कम दो view draw करने पड़ते है. ये round spherical या helix of thread आदि में use की जाती है.

Types Of Plane And Space Curve : Engineering line में curve के निम्नलिखित प्रकार है.

1. Roulettes Curve Or Cycloid Curve
2. Involutes Curve
3.Spirals Curve
4.Helix Curve

1. Roulettes Curve Or Cycloid Curve

Cycloid curve वह curve है. जो साइकिल की circle की परिधि (circumference) पर fix point से चलती है. इस तरह से की बिना स्लिप हुए fix straight line और circle के साथ roll करता है.  जो straight line के साथ circle roll करता है. उसे rolling circle कहते है. तथा इसे generating circle भी कहते है और fix straight line को directing circle भी कहते है.

2. Involutes Curve 

यह एक single curve line है जो straight के एक pice. के एक end से चलता है और दूसरे end point पर खत्म होता है. staring के circumference पर बहुत से point से tangent line draw करके बनाई जाती है. involute curve को triangle,square,pentagon, hexagon आदि पर draw करते है.

3. Spiral Curve

यह एक single curve line है जो straight line के साथ fixed point या pole से चलती है. fixed point से एक ही point में एक ही दिशा में लगातार move करती है. pole के साथ curve पर किसी point को मिलाने वाली line को radius vector कहते है. line के बीच किसी angle पर बने angle को Spiral Curve कहते है.

4. Helix Curve

यह एक double curve line है जो cylinder या cone के point से चलती है. इस तरह से की इसकी moment cylinder की लम्बाई के समान्तर समान होती है. यह एक चककर में cylinder के axis के parallel या generating point जितनी भी दुरी तय करता है उसे helix की pich या lead कहते है.Practical Application :-Helix curve screw thread या spearing आदि के लिए प्रयोग की जाती है.

1. Cycoloid Curve
2. Epicycloid Curve
3. Hypocycloid Curve

1. Cycoloid Curve

Cycoloid curve एक single curve line है जो rolling circle की परिधि पर fix point पर चलता है और बिना स्लिप हुए fix straight line के साथ roll करता है. इसे Cycoloid curve कहते है.

Practical Application : Cycoloid curve gear teeth(गरारी के दांत) के modal बनाने के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है.

2. Epicycloid Curve

यह एक single curve line है जो rolling circle की परिधि पर fix point से चलता है और बिना slip हुए directing circle के बाहर roll करता है

Practical Application : Epicycloid curve भी gear teeth की profile बनाने के लिए प्रयोग की जाती है.

3. Hypocycloid Curve 

यह एक single curve line है जो rolling circle के fix point से चलता है. और बिना slip हुए directing circle के अन्दर (inside) roll करता है.

Practical Application : Hypocycloid curve भी gear की out line बनाने में प्रयोग की जाती है.

Tangent Line

Curve के दिए हुए parts पर जो straight line होती है और जो normal के perpendicular होती है उसे tangent line कहते है.
